3/13 - Trisomy 13 Awareness Day

We are wearing our yellow for Trisomy 13 awareness day.  We weren't aware of what Trisomy 13 (or 18) was about even after a prenatal meeting with a genetic counselor that we had in the early days of pregnancy!  The counselor spent a lot of time on Trisomy 21, Down Syndrome, then said in one breath that there are other trisomies that include more medical issues like 13 and 18 but those are very rare... and moved on.  Little did we know that the blood test we took that day would lead us to know and love our friends who were born with an extra chromosome.   Luckily, as the saying goes, love doesn't count chromosomes😍
